Software Engineer, Calibration Automation
IQM is a global leader in designing, building, and selling superconducting quantum computers. IQM provides both on-premises full-stack quantum computers and a cloud platform to access its computers anywhere in the world. IQM customers include the leading high-performance computing centers, research labs, universities, and enterprises, which have full access to IQM's software and hardware. IQM has over 300 employees with offices in Finland, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Singapore, and the US.
Join our Calibration Automation team as a Software Engineer to play a key role in automating the calibration of quantum computers. You will be actively contributing to the development of our Graph-Based Calibration (GBC) software, which is an in-house software framework for creating calibration graphs.
What will I be doing?
You’ll become a key member of our team, responsible for developing and maintaining the underlying framework of GBC. Additionally, you will be designing and improving different calibration graphs for tasks such as the initial calibration and recalibration of quantum processing units (QPUs). As the number of qubits per chip increases, this work becomes increasingly important. In your role, you will focus on the graph framework, developing it in a direction that suits the demanding needs coming from different chips, growing chip sizes, and the strive towards achieving higher fidelities.
What skills do I need?
- Understanding of software development practices and methodologies.
- A degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Excellent Python skills.
- Understanding of data structures.
- Proficient in English communication, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding the physics behind the calibration of a superconducting QPU.
- Some experience with front-end development.
What can I expect from IQM?
- Contribute to groundbreaking projects that will shape the future of quantum computers.
- Thrive in a creative and open start-up environment that fosters growth, learning, and innovation.
- Be part of an international, fast-paced environment that values collaboration and cultural diversity.
