The work

You will lead a growing software development team responsible for building the foundations our quantum computers rely on. Your team operates close to the core of IQM’s technology, connecting research and engineering to deliver software that is dependable, scalable, and built for long-term impact.

This role is about creating clarity and momentum. You guide the team through priorities, shape effective ways of working, and ensure software is built with both scalability and quality in mind. You remove friction, support people to grow, and raise the bar for engineering standards across teams.

What you’ll actually do

• Lead and support a team of software engineers, enabling strong delivery and sustainable ways of working

• Support individual growth through coaching, timely feedback, regular 1:1s, and career development conversations

• Clarify priorities with the team and product owners, aligning the team’s work with broader company and product goals

• Contribute to department-level planning and shared initiatives, including process development and continuous improvement of development workflows

• Ensure development and release practices remain lean, scalable, and effective while maintaining sustainable quality

• Drive clarity in ownership, decision-making, and collaboration across teams

• Ensure alignment with relevant software standards and compliance requirements (e.g. IEC 62443-4-1), where applicable

• Work closely with stakeholders across software, hardware, and research to deliver integrated solutions

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading a software development team in a product environment, with demonstrated experience scaling teams, processes, and ways of working

• Strong background in delivering and maintaining production software, with clear and lean release practices while maintaining sustainable quality

• Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices (e.g. CI/CD, testing, code quality, observability)

• Experience working in complex, cross-functional and multi-location environments

• Ability to create clarity, drive alignment, and make pragmatic decisions

• Strong communication skills and a structured approach to leadership
