In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of science and engineering, turning groundbreaking research into production-ready hardware. You’ll collaborate with world-class experts in cryogenics, vacuum, and microwave engineering, contributing directly to the systems that enable the next generation of quantum computing.
Conceptualize, design, develop, and document mechanical parts and components for quantum computers and related systems. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to bring robust, manufacturable products to market.
What will I be doing?
- Mechanical Design & Development: Design and develop mechanical components and systems, including layout, framing, mounting, cable routing, and cryogenics.
- Modelling & Analysis: Use CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) and tools like Vault to model new parts and integrate third-party components.
- Collaborative Engineering: Partner with experts in cryogenics, vacuum, and microwave technologies to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions.
- Design Review & Communication: Lead and participate in design reviews, present options clearly, and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Documentation: Create detailed production drawings, assembly guides, datasheets, and compliance documentation for manufacturing and logistics.
- Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and manage regulatory documentation for all mechanical aspects of the products.
What skills do I need?
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design for industrial or commercial products.
- Background in mechanical design within electrical systems or industrial R&D environments.
- Knowledge of cryogenics, vacuum systems, microwave, or vibration reduction technologies is an advantage.
- Strong documentation skills for production and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault (or equivalent CAD software).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading design reviews.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality work.
- Driven by innovation and continuous improvement in design and performance.
