Director, Business Development (US)
IQM is a global leader in designing, building, and selling superconducting quantum computers. IQM provides both on-premises full-stack quantum computers and a cloud platform to access its computers anywhere in the world. IQM customers include the leading high-performance computing centres, research labs, universities and enterprises which have full access to IQM's software and hardware. IQM has over 300 employees with offices in Finland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and the US.
IQM is expanding its presence in the United States, and we’re looking for a Director, Business Development to play a key role in growing our footprint and shaping our commercial success in this strategic market.
This is a senior individual contributor position responsible for driving new business, managing key relationships, and influencing strategic opportunities across high-performance computing (HPC), academia, research institutions, government, and enterprise sectors. You’ll work closely with the Country Director and global teams to position IQM as a leading partner in the quantum ecosystem.
What I will be doing?
- Develop and execute strategies to expand IQM’s presence and revenue in the US market.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with government, enterprise, and research stakeholders.
- Identify, shape, and secure new business opportunities, including tenders and strategic partnerships.
- Represent IQM at industry events, conferences, and policy discussions to raise visibility and influence.
- Collaborate with internal teams - including product, marketing, and R&D - to align market needs with IQM’s technology roadmap.
- Monitor market developments and competitive activity to inform business and product strategy.
- Consistently meet agreed commercial objectives and contribute to the broader US growth plan
What background and skills do I need?
- Based in the US, ideally on the East Coast.
- 8+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within ICT, HPC, or related technology sectors.
- Strong network within the HPC and enterprise space, and experience with government or research procurement.
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to operate independently and drive outcomes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging technical and executive audiences alike.
- Willingness to travel across the US and NA as required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Business.
- Familiarity with the quantum computing ecosystem.
