IQM customers include the leading high-performance computing centres, research labs, universities and enterprises which have full access to IQM's software and hardware. We are looking for a Sourcing Manager to join our Operations team in Finland!
As we grow our production capacity, sourcing becomes increasingly strategic — not just in finding the right suppliers, but in managing risk, cost, and complexity across global supply chains. As a Sourcing Manager, you will take ownership of our procurement strategy and day-to-day supplier operations, helping us navigate a fast-moving and technically complex supply landscape. You’ll lead our sourcing strategy, maintain strong supplier relationships, contribute directly to the cost structure of our quantum systems, and actively contribute to how sourcing supports IQM’s broader technical and business goals.
What will I be doing?
- Designing, implementing, and refining IQM’s sourcing strategy, aligned with product development and manufacturing needs.
- Managing supplier selection processes, including market research, RFIs/RFQs, and due diligence on technical and operational fit.
- Leading contract negotiations with vendors - balancing quality, timelines, cost, and risk.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers, especially in areas like cryogenics, RF systems, and custom mechanical parts.
- Actively managing and improving our BOM cost structure using sourcing insights, vendor benchmarking, and cost breakdown analysis.
- Supporting second sourcing initiatives to reduce dependency on critical single-source items.
- Tracking supplier performance over time and identifying opportunities for improvement or re-evaluation.
- Working closely with engineering, legal, finance, and manufacturing teams to ensure procurement is fully integrated into our hardware roadmap.
- Contributing to the development of internal sourcing and procurement processes to improve efficiency and transparency as we scale.
What skills do I need?
- 5-10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles - ideally with exposure to deep tech, electronics, or manufacturing environments.
- A solid technical understanding of hardware & software production, especially electronics, mechanics, and industrial systems.
- Proven track record in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships in complex or fast-changing environments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when balancing competing technical and business priorities.
- Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and commercial teams.
- A proactive mindset and ability to take ownership of projects from strategy to execution.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to visit suppliers or manufacturing partners.
What can I expect from IQM?
- An opportunity to work with a passionate and diverse team on an important mission.
- A chance to shape the supply chain behind one of the most advanced computing technologies in the world.
- A unique opportunity to build scalable sourcing operations in a rapidly growing, globally recognized quantum startup.
- A high-trust, low-bureaucracy environment where you’ll have the freedom to make meaningful decisions.
- Support for personal and professional growth, with room to take on more responsibility as we scale.
