We are looking for a Facilities and Laboratory Manager to support our laboratory operations at IQM in Munich!

We seek a new colleague to join our office administration and facilities team to actively participate in the construction phase and later take care of the facilities of the new quantum computer laboratory of IQM Germany.

You will be part of the experimental team with the responsibility to build, maintain and improve a high-tech laboratory environment for quantum computers. You will be responsible in the laboratory, supporting infrastructure, maintenance and will support our local quantum engineers in their daily work. Ideal candidate already has some experience from the industry or maintaining facilities. We are going to teach specifically needed (and beyond) skills related to quantum computers.


What will I be doing?

• Your initial responsibility is to participate actively in the setup of the new laboratory and office spaces e.g interaction with planners and lab users, construction site supervision etc.
• You work closely with quantum engineers to support in their daily activities related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Your main responsibility consists of managing and maintaining our facilities for both office and laboratory infrastructure, in close collaboration with internal and external service providers.
• You are responsible for purchasing lab supplies and ensure the smooth operation of the lab.
• You are responsible for the safety and security of the laboratory.
• You are acting as the safety officer (“Sicherheitsbeauftragte(r)”) for our German entity.

What skills do I need?

• B.Eng./M.Eng. in a relevant field such as applied science or engineering
• Hands-on mentality and practice, the ability to act independently to ensure the timely execution of maintenance and repair work of our German entity
• Customer orientation towards the laboratory and office users
• Solution-oriented way of working and great commitment
• Good written and verbal communication in English and German 
• High understanding of quality
• Team player attitude
• Sense of responsibility and exemplary way of behaving and working
• Knowledge of or willingness to acquire regulatory standards
• Driver’s license

Preferred Skills/Experience but not required

• Previous experience in physics or engineering laboratory
• Experience in initiating and/or executing contacts with suitable local service providers related to facilities
• Completed training as a safety officer
